PROJECT  II

The Project II wing undertakes construction and reconstruction of bridges and improvements of roads  under the following schemes.

This scheme has been taken up with loan assistance of HUDCO and NABARD and Part - II scheme. The total out-lay of this project is RS. 361.00 crores. It comprise following.

Out of 107 bridges, works have been completed for 90 bridges, till date. For the balance 17 Bridges, the works are under various stages of construction and they are in good progress. All the balance bridges are programmed to be completed by the end of March, 2003.

Out of 60 bridges, design and estimate have been completed for 21 bridges. Tender has been finalized and work entrusted for all 21 bridges. Works have been completed. Loan application has been sent for the 19 bridges to get a loan of Rs. 900/- lakhs and the same has been approved. For the balance works, preparation of estimate is in progress.

Objective of this scheme is to form / improve link roads connecting sugarcane fields to the nearby sugar-mills. So far, 1366 Km length of sugarcane roads have been formed / improved. These roads are reclassified as Government ODR and are being maintained from funds (Rs. 2.00 crores) provided from sugarcane cess fund and (Rs. 5.5 crores) from Government budget.

For the year 2001 - 2002, 66 Kms of sugarcane roads are takenup at an estimate cost of Rs. 5.00 crores and for current year 2002 - 2003, 59.60 Km of sugarcane roads are taken up at an estimate cost of 5.00 crores and 19.53 Kms completed up to date.

The reconstruction of 24 numbers of flood and cyclone damaged bridges have been taken up under this scheme with loan assistance from World Bank with an outlay of 21.00 crores. 23 bridge works completed. For only one work i.e. construction of Bridge @ Km 6/8 of Mankadu Road tender for the balance work has been called for. The date of tender was fixed on 22.08.2002. Since there was no response, re-tender called on 19.09.2002. As the tender percentage quoted by the contractor is enormously high, the above tender has been cancelled and third call had been fixed on 31.10.2002. The tender has been sent to Commissionerate of Tenders for consideration and approval.
