Contractors registered under
Class-I (Rs. 25.00 Lakhs
and above) in Highways Department in Government of Tamil Nadu (Registration
alive upto date) are alone eligible for participation
in this tender. Joint ventures are not
permitted to participate in the tenders. Subject to the terms and conditions
set out in the qualification schedule and tender schedule for the following
project.

Intending tenderers may obtain
qualification schedule and tender schedule in person (or) through their
authorized agents from the Divisional Engineer (H), Project I, Division I,
Chennai 16 during the office hours from 9.10.2003 to 10.11.2003 (Inclusive of
both days).

Qualification schedule and tender schedule shall be
purchased on written application to the Divisional Engineer (H), Project I,
Division I, Chennai 16, on producing necessary receipted Challan towards the cost (not refundable) and sales tax and
surcharge remitted in the following head of account or demand draft drawn in favour of the Divisional Engineer (H) Project I, Division
I, Chennai - 16 from a scheduled bank
for the cost of the tender schedule and sales tax and surcharge (not
refundable).

The tenderers
are not permitted to furnish tenders based on their alternative design for the
Serial nos. 1 and 2.
The tenderers
are requested to quote their rates at percentage above or less than the
estimated value of the department in the last page of Bill of quantities of
price bid document for
the Serial no.1 and 2.
In respect of serial no.3, the tenderers
are permitted to furnish tenders based on their alternative design confirming
to the design criteria and conditions stipulated in the bid document with the
following conditions.
a) Type of foundation suggested in the departmental design
should not be changed.
b) R.C.C. retaining walls proposed in the departmental design
should not be replaced with reinforced earth.
c) Two bearing system is not acceptable for the
Superstructures.
d) Expansion joints should be compulsorily as per the
departmental design (Strip seal)
The qualification schedule and tender schedule duly filled,
in all respects as required therein will be received by the Superintending
Engineer (H), Project - I, Circle, Highways Research Station Campus, Chennai
600 025 on 13.11.2003 upto 3.00 p.m. (As per office
clock). The Superintending Engineer (H),
Project I, Circle, Chennai 600 025 will open the cover containing
qualification documents and EMD alone at
The cover containing Bid document of
such of those tenderers found qualified will be
opened after due intimation to them. The
tenders of others will be returned unopened.

One pre bid meeting will be held at
11 A.m. on 06.11.2003 in Superintending Engineer (H) ProjectI, Circle H.R.S. Campus, Chennai 25 in connection
with the qualification requirements.
The Superintending Engineer (H),
Project - I, Circle, Chennai 25 reserves the right to accept or reject any or
all qualification and bid documents without assigning any reason therefor. The
Superintending Engineer (H), Project I, Circle, Chennai 25 is not responsible
for non-receipt in time, loss or delay in receipt of filled qualification
schedule and tender schedule.
The tender documents will be
supplied through register post to the contractors who makes a request for the
same on payment of tender schedule cost along with postal charges of Rs. 1000/- at the risk and responsibility of the contractor. The Divisional Engineer (H) shall not be
responsible for any delay in transit in such cases.
The tenderers
are permitted to furnish the tenders either in person (or) through courier (or)
through Registered Post (or) by ordinary mail so as to reach the hands of the
tender inviting authority before
